t’s Popcorn time! That means it’s popcorn kickoff time, and this is going to be the best kickoff yet! We have chosen a Star Wars theme for this year’s kickoff and sale. The kickoff will be held at Central Gwinnett High School on Wednesday, August 31st at 7pm.
Besides getting to spend time with your friendly neighborhood DE’s, here’s a list of 10 reasons you need to come to the kickoff:
1. No one wants to be square. That’s what will happen if you aren’t at this kickoff party!
2. You will earn an extra 1% commission on your sale just for showing up!
3. This is where you will pick up your unit guidebook and popcorn order forms!
4. This is new, but each unit will get a kickoff box of goodies that will only be handed out at the kickoff, including but not limited to: New product samples, popcorn banners, and more!
5. We are having a Star Wars costume contest. Wear your best Star Wars attire for a prize! Scouts are welcomed to participate in this contest as well!
6. Come get some great info on this year’s sale and all of our new products, prizes, technology and more!
7. Help your unit and our district have its most successful popcorn year yet!
8. Meet your team of Apalachee popcorn Jedi’s!
9. Play fun games for prizes, eat free popcorn and lemonade, and find out what’s poppin in Apalachee!
10. Avoid countless, harassing, follow up phone calls from your still friendly neighborhood DE’s!
We look forward to seeing you all next Wednesday 8/31 at 7pm in the Central Gwinnett High School Cafeteria.

ATTN all Scouts, Scouters and family:
We are fast approaching the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 event that changed our world forever.
If you recall, in 2010 and 2011, BSA hosted the first ever Scout Surge events honoring our first responders everywhere as well as remembering all the lives lost that tragic date in our history. For the 10th anniversary event, the NEGA Council had a huge response in our community with over 500 in attendance at the Fallen Heroes Memorial, Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, Lawrenceville, GA.
This September 11th we would like to show our community once again just how much our scouts, scouters and families appreciate all of the first responders (local: police, sheriff, fire and EMS; as well as national: the men & women in our armed forces) who keep our community and/or our country safe day in and day out. Please come out and join us in conjunction with the Gwinnett County agencies to do just that and bring your unit flag to participate in a large color guard parade. Some scouts will have the honor of leading the Pledge of Allegiance, carrying the Flag of Honor and Flag of Heroes, and/or helping with the lighting of candles for those lost.
Be part of the surge and sign up ASAP.
When: Sunday, 9/11/16
Time: 8:30 AM
What: Scout Surge & 9/11 Commemorative Ceremony
Cost: no charge
Where: Fallen Heroes Memorial, Gwinnett County Justice Center, 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA
Dress: Class A Uniform
Bring: Unit Flag and stand
This will be a huge opportunity to show our community how BSA meets the promise of "duty to our country" so don't miss out!
There will be media coverage (newspaper and television) so our presence will be duly noted beyond those in attendance.
Looking forward to hearing from all Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Varsity Scout Teams, Venturing Crews and Ships, as well as the Exploring Posts for a one of a kind experience.
