The 2010 Apalachee District Aquatic Fun Day will be hald on August 21, 2010 @ Scoutland. This is a one day event activitys include open boating & swimming and the Huck Finn raft & relay race. Click here to register

CPR/AED - Wilderness First Aid Course
March 4th - March 6, 2011 @ Cleveland Hall @ Scoutland

The NEGA CPR/AED - Wilderness First Aid Course certified by the Emergency Care & Safety Institute is a 19-hour class designed and geared towards leaders and older youth who provide and participate in adventures in the out-of-doors.

The emergency response training includes patient assessment, musculoskeletal and soft tissue injuries, splinting, and a variety of other topics. Providing primary care in all types of weather with non-standard equipment and coping with long term care and emergency response are major issues focused upon in widerness First Aid.

Lecture and discussion, practical exercise and outdoor scenarios help participants gain confidence, and encourage the development of critical decision making skills. Click here to register

Historical Merit Badges

In honor of BSA’s 100th Anniversary four of the original 1910 /1911 merit badges have been released for scouts to earn during our Centennial Year. The merit badges are Carpentry, Pathfinding, Signaller and Tracking. The Historical Merit Badges were officially released by national today. Work on these badges may now be started and must be completed by December 31, 2010. Click here to see the requirements.

These merit badges, like allothers, must be earned from an approved merit badge counselor. There will not be any merit badge books released for these badges by national and there are no provisions for counselors to be approve specifically for these badges. Merit badge counselors approved for the following merit badges are approved by the Council Advancement Committee as counselors for the  Historical Merit Badges. Those wishing to be a counselor for any of these badges should apply to be a counselor for the corresponding merit badge(s) listed below if not currently approved for the badge.
